Renowned Oakland painter Darril Tighe will exhibit her work at the Oakland Public Library, Rockridge Branch, 5366 College Avenue. Darril has been perfecting her technique for more than two decades. Darril Tighe holds an MFA in painting from the dis-tinguished Claremont Graduate University in Claremont, California. She also holds a BA in English from Pomona College. Darril has exhibited around the Bay Area, as well as in southern California. She incorporates watercolor, inks, and acrylics in large-scale paintings that reflect her reactions to and interactions with the natural world. Part Hawaiian, Darril was born and raised in Honolulu and Kaneohe, Oahu, Hawaii, and she attended the Kamehameha Schools. Darril’s superb sense of color and light reflect her heritage and upbringing. An abstract painter influenced by great abstract expressionists such as Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock, Darril interweaves elements of color, form, line, tone, and textures into feasts for the eye. Her work must be seen in person in order to be properly appreciated. Don’t miss this chance to see Darril’s work.

~ you and your loved ones are invited to celebrate with Karleen (Schwartz) and Chris for her 30th birthday. The date of the birth is 2/10 but we're throwing the party at our humble home, 1096 67th St., Oakland, xSan Pablo Ave., near the Ashby/Shellmound exit of I-80. here will be small mammals at this party (important if you're allergic). Party guests may receive presents or be pinched at any time. This party may evolve to freakish proportions by morning, but it'll start out with beer and scotch and wine and grub like they all do. and hopefully cake and ice cream. we have most liquors but scotch and whisky are always popular, so bring it if you got it. If you like to listen to good music, bring CDs or VHS videotapes. Karleen listens to Paul Simon, the Muppets, Bobby McFerrin, and NIN, so ignore this warning at your peril. Punk rock also available

s u n d a y 2.9
~ The Bicycle-Friendly Berkeley Coalition presents its 7th Annual Bicycle Film Festival: 4-9pm, La Peña Cultural Center, 3105 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley (2 blocks E of Ashby BART).
